The Saronic IslandsThe Saronic islands consists of 5 islands which are the closest group to Athens. These islands are very popular and attract every weekend thousands of Athenians, searching to escape from their busy town.

These islands are also close to Peloponnesus where some archaeological sites of great interest like Mycenae and Epidavros are located.

These islands are beautiful and have much to offer to the visitor. Each island is different with its own beauty and character.

All of the Saronic Islands are characterised by their natural beauty, their clean sandy beaches, their charming villages and the ruins of their ancient glory.

They are considered by many as a paradise for sailing.

The Saronic Gulf islands consist of five islands: Salamina, Egina, Poros, Hydra, Spetses.

Egina - Saronic IslandsEgina is a small island and was in Classical Times a major power even rivalling Athens.
It is one of the closest islands to Athens and it is regarded as a beach annexe of the capital.
The island has much to offer apart from the antiquities. It has varied landscape, beautiful sandy beaches, a charming town and picturesque fishing villages. Two small islets of natural beauty are situated close to Egina which have been turned into natural parks.

Poros - Saronic IslandsPoros is a small volcanic island separated from the mainland by a 400 metre canal. It also situated near Athens and receive every weekend many visitors. The island offers a charming village typical of Greek islands architecture with white painted houses and blue woodwork.

The island also offers beautiful beaches next to pine trees forests and an interesting Sanctuary dedicated to god Poseidon.

Spetses - Saronic IslandsSpetses is a popular island attracting every year thousands of visitors. It is an island with dense vegetation. It is covered with pines trees.

The island is also famous from an historical point of view. It had a vital role during the Greek Revolution against the Ottoman Empire.
Spetses has a few beaches and a charming town where one can see beautiful mansions, churches and nice squares.
